Estimación del impacto en la calidad del aire por la reducción del parque vehicular en Barcelona
Resumen
The quality of the air breathed in the streets of Barcelona has worsened in recent years, with air pollution from road traffic, and more specifically from internal combustion vehicles (ICVs), being one of the main causes.
The Barcelona City Council has therefore presented a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of Barcelona's air, through a series of measures, many of which are aimed at reducing the impact of traffic on the city's air pollution.
In this paper we will study the impact that one of these measures in particular may have; we refer to the incentive to remove older vehicles by subsidising, in return, the use of services related to more sustainable modes of transport, such as transport passes for the use of shared bicycles, public transport, etc.
According to the scenario studied, the gradual withdrawal from circulation of all pre-Euro-5 ICVs in 2027 would mean a 47% reduction in NOx emissions and a 50% reduction in particle emissions from ICVs in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. This measure would mean a cost of more than 6,000 million euros in transport passes for the City Council.
