This paper analyzes how the concept of “Agility” has influenced the main standards and methodologies of project management: the Guide to the project management foundations of the Project Management Institute, the PRINCE2 methodology of the Government Office of Commerce of the United Kingdom, and the Basis for Individual Competence in Project Management (ICB 4.0) of the International Project Management Association.
Agility is a phenomenon that has quickly spread beyond the scope of software development and has significantly influenced the discipline of project management. In recent years, the main frames of reference have been subject to updates to address the incorporation of Agility.
The objective of this communication is to show how Agility has influenced the discipline of project management and management, making a critical evaluation to determine to what extent they contribute to the Streamlining of models. In the paper, the concept of Agility and its evolution in the field of project management is reviewed, as well as the main changes that the incorporation of Agility has led to the models under study (PMBok, PRINCE2 and ICB).
