Maturity models emerge as a means to evaluate the capabilities and competencies in organizations regarding the implementation of the Project Management best practices, so that they mark a path to achieve improvement and achieving excellence in project development. In 1987 the SEI (Software Engineering Institute) developed the Capability Maturity Model, First Maturity Model designed to help software companies improve their processes. From this different models have emerged, most common being the use and development in areas where Project Management is more widespread (U.S., UK, Latin America), leading to a disproportionate diversity maturity models that complicates access and practical application to business. In Spain, there is little explicit documentation on the current use of Maturity Models in organizations, we aim to fill gap in the study. Thus arises the need to consult with professional experts in industry projects, providing expertise and practical knowledge of the most common real, get a realistic and practical approach in order to propose a maturity model for project organizations in Spain.
