The idea to establish the BIM methodology in Projects subjects for undergraduate degrees at the School of Industrial Engineering of the University of Valladolid (EII-UVa), arose to let a gradual student approach into the project development through this new system.
Once the first implementation stage (two previous years) is over, this paper shows our current state of the BIM model development in the "projects" subject for industrial engineering degrees. Our current progress in the implementation process refers to modeling and calculation of systems (MEP) and structures through interoperability with different programs using standard file.
This work has identified a need to develop these skills: coordination, leadership, management and negotiation. Labor market demands all of them. Therefore, and following the approach and philosophy presented, special attention will be devoted to the main characteristics of the BIM methodology (collaborative work and coordination).
