Using the fiber optic through DTS techniques allows characterizing temperature around the fiber optic line. In this paper the alternatives to use this methodology to study pollutants in the water are analyzed. The different thermal behavior of the water according to its composition can be analyzed through heat convection or conduction processes. The theoretic results show that the aforementioned methodology is capable of measuring water pollutant composition according to some restrictions provided that the noise of distributed temperature measurements is controlled.
