For many years, design activity has been developed under problem solving perspectives. The basis of this relies on identifying users’ problems to solve them. However, to what extent users really ask for satisfying their specific needs? The key for successful innovations relies on their acceptance by the market, and that's where users’ motivations play a fundamental role.
Therefore, in this communication we show a structured guided called MOTIVA-PRO helpful to identify innovation opportunities based on motivations. To start the innovation process from fundamental motivations (security, self-esteem, proximity, etc.) instead from problems helps to go deeper in real needs of the stakeholders (clients, providers, etc.) – why and what for-. This allows to design products and services (systems) more aligned with their expectations.
