Currently, consumers are faced with a market plenty of products with similar features, functionality and aesthetics, being the choice to purchase linked to the subjective customer-related aspects. Emotional design is the design theory that takes the emotional values of consumers to achieve product acceptance, while Kansei Engineering is about the translation of the customer's psychological feelings and needs into the domain of product design.
From the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering, the training of future designers in this field is an important key, providing them the ability to analyse market and customers' needs and to apply different methodologies and techniques for the development of products which integrate emotional attributes. With this approach, this paper shows a teaching experience of the optional “Emotional Design” course developed at the Universitat Jaume I for two years. On the one hand, some content and organization of the course are described, including some parts in English. On the other hand, some opinions from students were collected. Results from the study will be aimed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the course, in order to improve it.
