    Resumen
In this paper our aim is to make a comparison between the results obtained tracking progress indicators in a real work, using two methodologies, from the perspective of the Project Manager. On a hand we analyze data obtained with a widespread method used in organizations with a low maturity level in project management, called "traditional method". With this method the control is limited to make a comparison between the project baseline and the values contained in certifications carried out monthly by the Project Manager. At the same time we’ll analyze what additional information is required to perform the construction project monitoring with earned value techniques. The results allow us to analyze the contribution that the use of these techniques will bring to the Project Manager, from the point of view of cost control and schedule control.
