This contribution presents the results of a teaching experience applied to Graphic Expression, a subject in the first year of the Degree of Industrial Design. The contents of this subject lay the basis for the performance of technical drawings, focusing on formal aspects, representation techniques and regulations for a correct representation of products. The present teaching project aims to bring students to one of the documents that comprise an engineering project: plans. The novelty that introduces this experience is how students choice the product to represent graphically.
An adaptation of the teaching-learning framework called "Design for Change" has been carried out, in which the student is placed at the center of the experience, helping him to develop his capacity to transform his surroundings. Thus, the incoming students have the opportunity to observe their environment, detect deficiencies and promote actions that reflect positive values (solidarity, sustainability, innovation, urbanity, etc.). All this process leads to the graphic execution of the essential technical plans to illustrate their proposals.
