A company responsible for the management of the Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) storage and filling facility needs to certify that the plant meets the conditions necessary to ensure the safety and health for the workers and the proper operation and maintenance of equipment in explosive atmospheres (ATEX).
For this reason, it is necessary to develop the document of setting in conformity of ATEX zones for this installation, based on the standards of the API recommended practice 505 and UNE-EN 60079-10. The document must include: list of substances, list of emission sources, hazardous area classification drawings and inspection of equipment located within these areas. From these results a conformity of the equipments and installations will be obtained and also a proposal of corrective measures that must be implemented for ensuring the safety and health of people, and the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
This work describes the procedure carried out to set in conformity ATEX zones in the mentioned installation and the main results obtained.
