    Abstract
Pollution is an important issue and against which measures are constantly being taken to reduce or eliminate it. The engine exhaust gases have different contaminants that are eliminated in various stages. The NOx generated by car engines are not eliminated by the catalyst, so they are sent to an exchanger that cools these gases and afterwards these gases are redirect to the combustion chamber. This exchanger, called EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), is the component to be analyzed in this study. In view of the objective, it is important to know the thermal maps in the EGR, because high temperatures are reached inside and it is possible that the structure is not able to withstand the stresses that appeared so evaluation studies are required. This study show the numerical analysis carried out of an EGR, in order to obtain a correct design of these types of systems. Concretely, this study show the CFD analysis and FEM analysis carried out, which allow validated the initial design of an EGR system.
