    Abstract
The knowledge about the user’s needs and stakeholders involved in the development of new products is one of the keys for the innovation. There are numerous tools to meet the real needs of consumers, to empathize with them and ensure the success of new developments and the tool personas stands out due to its popularity among design teams. In this study a review of the tool personas is made, from its origins in the 90s, when it emerged in the area of computing until its application in human centered design approaches today. The different models proposed are compared according to the method they propose, the type of information they consider, the quantitative or qualitative approach and their application in the human centered design processes. The aging process of elderly people and the possible use of the tool Personas in this field are analysed. Finally, conclusions are drawn in order to facilitate the proper application of the tool on the field of aging.
