The analysis of the industrial policy of a region shows the diversity and dispersion of these between the different regions of the European Union. The objective of this work is to identify those characteristics of the regional industrial policies that favor and those that hinder their positioning in terms of innovation. The regions studied are: Vest (Romania), Pomorskie (Poland), Lombardia (Italy), North Brabant (Holland) and Catalonia (Spain). The method of work followed has been to carry out an analysis of the industrial policy of each region based on the Report on the development of regional industrial policy capacity (CE - EUROFUND, 2017). This is a general report that synthesizes and compares the industrial policy capacity of European case study regions, which have been analysed as part of the Future Manufacturing in Europe pilot project, proposed by the European Parliament. Thus, for each region studied, the most unique characteristics of its industrial policies are obtained and those that favour and hinder the positioning of the region in terms of innovation are identified. Conclusions: both the best positioned regions in innovation and the worst, present disparate and heterogeneous initiatives that contribute to their positioning.
