In recent years, new educational techniques have been identified with the aim of improving the assimilation of concepts and skills by students. In this line, the Project-Based Learning is revealed as one of the most useful and with better results methodologies, being of application in all the educational levels. The present research arises from a teaching innovation project where a real implementation of this methodology has been carried out in a specific subject, Applied Systems Engineering, in the studies of Master's Degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
Throughout the work, a series of guidelines are shown that facilitate the implementation of this technique to the teaching staff, identifying the main difficulties that may be found during the process. At the same time, by means of initial and final questionnaires to the students, it is possible to obtain results from the use of Project-Based Learning as the driving idea of a subject at this academic degree level, being able to compare the expectations of the students with the results obtained. The conclusions of a real experience of application of Project-Based Learning are stated, reflecting the benefits that this methodology offers in the university teaching of engineering studies.
