Operative management is one of the key tasks to achieve efficiency in the administration of any productive system. In the case of export-oriented farms, as they are agricultural productive units that demand different resources to generate different products, going through different processes, the task is not simple. Farm managers face problems associated with operational management such as inventory shortages, staff cost overruns, inefficiency of tasks and outdated records. This article presents the experience of designing and executing a technology transfer project to a group of 60 agricultural producers dedicated to the production and export of avocado from the central region of Colombia. The results of the transfer of soft and hard technologies to these producers have affected them with a greater ability to manage resources and a greater awareness of the role they play within the food supply chains. In turn, for the farm it has meant an improvement of the profile to be internationally certifiable as an export property.
