Prefabricated housing has played an important role as temporary housing in disaster-affected areas, refugee camps or military bases for humanitarian and military operations. There are numerous detractors of these temporary housing solutions because they consider that they do not provide a space for dignified, safe and comfortable living. On the other hand, they consider them to be overly expensive solutions with a high environmental impact, since they require the construction of service facilities and in many cases the generation of waste not properly managed. The main objective of this work is to examine the extent to which environmental, economic, technical and socio-cultural criteria affect the use of these temporary housings, and how such factors could be taken into account in decision-making and processes design of these spaces.
