Traditionally, autonomous photovoltaic systems have been the protagonists in the supply of energy in areas isolated from the electricity grid. It is for this reason that this type of systems are the preferred choice in rural electrification projects of international cooperation.
Although photovoltaic systems have proved to be a mature technology with optimal durability prospects, there are frequent cases of failure of electrification projects once they have been implemented.
This communication identifies the problems found in a quality control of several isolated photovoltaic systems in hospitals and health posts in the Saharan refugee camp. It has been detected that the great majority of this type of installations does not work properly, finding some systems also totally dismantled, even to the short time of reception, which comes to wonder about the sustainability of this type of projects
