    Abstract
Municipal waste collection is an essential task to ensure citizens health conditions. This daily task in countries with resources is not as usual in other places. When there is not a waste collection plan, means that quite often waste is not placed is the appropriate site and that it is sometimes uncontrolled burned. But the organization of the collection is complicated as there is not information like waste generation, population distribution in the town or the layout of the streets. The lack of economic resources makes it difficult to use geographic information systems or the acquisition of the suitable bins and trucks. This work defines the starting points to organize a waste collection of a town with low economical resources suggesting several alternatives when data is missing. First of all, the study analyses the characteristics and needs of the town. From the initial data, the waste fractions to collect are determined as well as the way of collection adapted to the available resources. The study is applied at Nikki, an African town without a waste collection plan.
