The genetic resources of agricultural biodiversity are linked to social groups by ancestral uses, are part of traditional knowledge and create a level of belonging and identity. In Mexico, there is the ejido as social property, defined as: “communal land on the outskirts of a population that is destined for services, such as eras or pastures of cattle”, and in this context, many genetic resources are in this property, and They have low development rates. The signing of the Nagoya Protocol, requires the characterization, distinction and conservation of agricultural species and their wild relatives, therefore, a model for in situ conservation of agricultural biodiversity was designed under the approach of local agroecosystem, with special emphasis on areas geographic of local and indigenous communities in Mexico, whose methodological basis is the approach, awareness, alliances, resource inventory, creation of community social projects, and bioprospectives to create value networks, with the intervention of Higher Education and Research Institutions. The strategy integrates socio-cultural, economic and biological variables that discipline the operation and materialize the fair and equitable distribution of benefits to the heirs of the culture reflected in each plant resource and responds to Mexico's international conservation goals.
