Construction is one of the largest economic sectors in all the world's economies, thanks to its impact on employment generation, trade in materials and the development of essential infrastructure for social development. However, the global market is immersed in an environment of economic and political uncertainty, where trade and industrial production showed signs of marked weakness. Despite the unfortunate forecasts for the global economy, moderate economic growth is expected in developing country rankings such as Colombia. Consequently, this research analyzes the economic factors around the projects executed by the construction sector in order to establish the incidence of this sector in the Colombian economic development in recent times and its relationship with external phenomena, evaluating macroeconomic indicators and their impact on supply and demand in capital goods, infrastructure and employment generation which is differential thanks to the effect on public investment in housing construction and civil works, denoting a weak market recovery in relation to the factors around the construction sector, allowing to glimpse and focus the trends and impact of this sector in the Colombian economy.
