The document presents a methodological proposal to improve energy efficiency and achieve a reduction of costs in the consumption of energy (electricity, gas, gas oil) and water in the tourist establishments of a hotel group.
To do this, it is indicated how to establish the data that must be collected and its analysis, the investments to be made in saving measures (efficient lighting, fuel changes, and others) and determine those that have greater viability, in addition to implementing a system of monitoring and control.
It is also necessary to measure and verify the savings, in which the real savings achieved by the measures implemented are reliably and impartially determined. For this, the use of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) is proposed.
The methodology presented can be a model that shows the potential economic and environmental benefits offered by the commitment to improve energy efficiency in tourist establishments.
