Abstract

It shows the development of a methodology for the implementation of a project management office (PMO) in the area of information and communication technologies (ICT) applied to the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). First, there is a thorough analysis of the reports published by PMI and IPMA on project management in recent years, to know the most decisive factors in this discipline and how PMO can provide solutions to most problems Found in the development of the projects undertaken by the organizations. Secondly, we describe the background and the current situation of the ICT area in particular and the USC in general, because it is essential to know in detail the starting point of the organization in terms of project management, before addressing the Development of a specific proposal. Finally, it justifies the need for the PMO for the ICT area and proceeds to propose a methodology that can serve as a guide to develop in the future a specific project of design and start-up of this PMO, when the university authorities are Aware of their need and so they decide.
