REHABILITACIÓN DEL TRAMO CARRETERO PINALITO‐ORATORIO CON METODOLOGÍA DE MANO DE OBRA INTENSIVA (MOI) EN JOCOTÁN (GUATEMALA)
Resumen
The Project was carried out in a village in Jocotán, municipality of Guatemala. It consists of the rehabilitation of a rural road, not through the traditional way, but with the Intensive Labour Force methodology. This one is based on the favoured community by the project, which after some training is the one taking charge of the works in return for wages. With this, several goals are reached. In the one hand the full investment stays in the community, providing wages to the people, and not having to hire construction or other sort of companies outside of the community. In the other hand it is a sustainable project, both environmentally and social. The environmental sustainability is guaranteed because there are no big machines in the works, which means small earthmoving. The social sustainability is guaranteed by the fact that the community learns how to carry out this kind of works, so in case there is any problem or maintenance is needed; it can be solved or done without depending on external situations.
Keywords: rural road, Intensive Labour Force, favoured community, sustainability.
