This paper reports the teaching experience carried out within the practical part of subjects such as Projects, fifth year of Industrial Engineering Degree, and Technical Office, third year of Technical Industrial Engineering Degree (Mechanics, Electricity and Electronics), at the University of La Rioja. In the proposed model, the focus of the educational effort is not to ensure results in a single test, but to foster students to “learn by doing”. Thus, the emphasis revolves around the practical work, whose main objective is to improve the process of acquiring general and specific “skills” of the subjects concerned. To develop and evaluate adequately these skills, authors decided to develop a transversal coordination between the same subject in different degrees, considering the different curricula of each degree: more focused to the technological aspects in Technical Industrial Engineering and more oriented to management and R&D in Industrial Engineering. The proposed approach, among others, develops group competences like teamwork, transfers to the student the active role –the student is the one who must develop a project–, and allows to implement, in scale, professional skills which should be deployed by a project manager.
