Our goal is to improve the competitiveness of dairy farms in Galicia. Has developed a method to systematize improve efficiency in feeding operations.
Working with a sample, statistically significant, 50 farms were analyzed various production processes, identifying activities and times, and construction details for each farm.
We determined the existence of two feeding systems, manual, which the difference in grazing and no grazing, and automatic, with a mixer wagon, drawn or self-propelled. We also analyzed the type of feeder, which can be level, elevated or downstream from the feeding corridor.
82% of farms use automatic system, predominantly drawn from self-propelled, highlighting the zero-grazing system in the manual case. Then we calculated efficiencies (kg milk / hour in feeding activities), was more efficient the self-propelled, and worse, the manual system. On the typology of the feeder, most suitable for all systems is located at the level from the feeding corridor.
