The Building Technical Code (BTC) has recently incorporated micro-ventilation as a viable and innovative alternative for house ventilation.
To achieve an efficient and reasonable application, on the safety side, according to CTE-DBHS3, it is necessary to set some criteria which, as well as complying with current regulations, allow the effective and safe use of functioning and operation.
There are two very different alternatives. On the one hand, operating parameters may be set that are similar to existing ventilation systems so that micro-ventilation will be as a special system and will be subjected to the same criteria. The operational reality and the details of the tests must be adjusted for its adaptation. On the other hand, micro-ventilation can be treated as a different way to produce ventilation in buildings, allowing continuous and fixed operation for a specific time and another, different one, depending on the decision of the user in the house.
In both cases, suitable ventilation must be guaranteed and if there are operational alternatives to be chosen, the one that produces the least CO2 should be chosen to be on the safe side as a general rule.
Innovation is essential, even in operational aspects.
