Currently, there are a variety of solutions available for assisted steering of agricultural vehicles used to perform farming operations requiring the use of machinery with large
working widths. Furthermore, fully automated steering systems that do not require a driver are being developed. However, such systems are mainly based on parallel guidance and show great limitations in fields of irregular shape. In this work, we have developed a guidance system that allows the driver to follow non-parallel trajectories and provides graphical information of the cropped areas. By using the system proposed in our study, the worker can plan different tillage strategies for a field according to field shape and relief. The results obtained with this system have been compared to the results obtained by performing the operations without any guidance system or with a conventional parallel guidance system. The comparison was based on the analysis of the field paths obtained by using each method.
