Six Sigma is a relatively new business strategy based upon a systematic and well structured methodology that seeks to minimize the variability present in manufacturing or service processes. This work describes a methodology for the selection of six sigma projects based on the analytic network process (ANP) developed by Thomas Saaty. The methodology incorporates the Social Responsibility perspective to the four perspectives commonly used by the balanced scorecard, as a framework for the selection of projects for building a portfolio that optimizes its alignment with the organization’s strategy, and for taking into consideration the environmental impact and eco-efficiency of the processes.
