Lean project management is based on the principles of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology, incorporating tools based on quality management and statistics that are integrated into project management. Nowadays, the market demands for a combination of flexibility and speed leads to the development and implementation of agile methodologies, which are fully established in the ITC sector and seen as a way forward. This paper explore which aspects of lean management can be incorporated into the conventional methodologies of project management, which complement them and which can be a connection with agile methodologies. To this effect, a review of the state of the art of lean project management is done, focusing on the proposed tools and on which areas of the project can be used. From this information, a review of its adequacy to conventional and agile methodologies is performed in order to make a proposal of integration into PMI methodology.
