DETERMINACIÓN DEL IMPACTO DE LAS OFICINAS DE GERENCIA DE PROYECTOS EN EL CONTEXTO EMPRESARIAL COLOMBIANO.

Abstract

On the scientific literature, different studies analyzed the positive impact that the Project Management Offices (PMOs) have on the projects under their supervision. Mainly, those research works used an exploratory approach; form a limited statistical framework, usually based on case of study organizations far away from the reality of the projects implemented in Colombia. Taking that into account, it is needed to analyze the impact generated by the PMOs in the performance of the projects in the Colombian enterprise context. This investigation, demonstrated that the performance of the projects is positively impacted by the presence of the PMOs within the organizations that implement this type of initiatives. Firstly, a literature review about the Project Management Offices was conducted on main international journals and related standards; secondly, an extensive fieldwork was undertaken, analyzing more than 500 organization that perform projects in Colombia; subsequently, a detailed statistical analysis of data was carried out , and finally, study results and future lines of research were established.
