In a globalized economy in constant change, it is essential to propitiate the competitiveness and adaptability of companies to maintain and ensure their presence on the markets, in environments of increasing maturity and qualification, which implies the need to improve the efficiency of the own processes and effectiveness of the solutions served, so contemplate research, development and innovation -R&D&I- activities, as dynamic elements, it is not only necessary, but it is key to their survival. R&D&I management systems, as instruments to promote and systematize creativity and innovation, foment their application in products/services, processes and/or business organization, contributing to the generation of value to stakeholders.
This investigation is developed in three stages. In a first phase, the most widespread conceptual views related to R&D&I, contributed by recognized sources and/or organisms, are collected. Next, a set of indicators are selected to analyze and quantify activities and their evolution in the Spanish context, characterizing and comparing the existing models from the investment, expenditure, human resources and derived results. Finally, R&D&I management is structured under the normative approach, focused on the alternatives -projects, operations, results, assessment and strategy- and their integration.
