The electric energy still comes mostly from fossil fuel combustions and non-ecological solutions. This article describes an alternative to the electric bicycle. It shows the design process of a suitable bicycle device, consisted of mechanical elements, following a retro or steampunk trend. Amusing the user, producing a stimulus directly related to speed and physical effort, is the main objective of this project. The energy storage and discharge is activated by the user will. On one hand, once the user reaches an appropriate speed of his like, or whenever he desires so, the rider reverses the pedal rotation, going backwards to store the energy. On the other hand, using a lever mechanism, the rider will discharge the energy previously stored. The device is based on the differential used in the drivetrain inside the automotive sector, as well as on the spring gears some toy cars carries within in order to store rotational energy. The new device modifies and combines these elements so that its effect suits the desirable objectives.
