According to the Technical Building Code (TBC), Spain is divided into 12 different climate zones. The maximum thermal transmittance coefficients allowed in the construction are limited by those climate zones. These values are lower in those climates with colder winters.
There are the following climate zones in La Rioja: Logroño D2, D1 for locations with a height between 200 and 400 meters with respect to Logroño and E1 for locations with a height greater than 400 meters.
This study aims to determine the climate zones not only in terms of the height difference, but also the actual minimum temperatures, adjusting the transmittances to them. It is about optimizing heating and cooling systems in the Riojan homes, with a process of innovation and continuous improvement.
Installed capacity for heating homes in different localities of La Rioja is compared according to a temperature map made for all La Rioja. In a first case, it is calculated based on the TBC; and in a second case, it is calculated based on the minimum outside temperature. The optimal limits transmittances will be determined in this way. This allows a more accurate calculation of these facilities.
