On one hand, from a business point of view, the actions of an organization are normally oriented towards a strategy defined by top management, depending on their mission, vision and policies. On the other hand, an important aspect in the functions of Project Management is to achieve “success” in the projects, meeting the expectations of the organization. The projects are often the means to achieve these strategic objectives and it for this reason that Project Management is a discipline that is of great importance to organizations. In this context, the ISO 21500:2012 standard “Guide for Project Management” is immersed in an attempt to harmonize and unify the knowledge and practical experience in this discipline in the form of international guidelines.
This present communication analyzes organizational strategy and project supervision from the perspective of the ISO 21500 standard, the identification of business opportunities, and also their evaluation and posterior application to a practical case of an SME in the technological field located in the province of Cadiz.
