Royal Decree 1311/2005 regulates the occupational risk assessment by exposure to vibrations, for which, methods based on the estimated acceleration value may be used rather than those based on measurement.
The estimation methods may be based on the equipment’s declared values supplied by the manufacturer. In these cases, the corresponding emission value may be expressed with regard to uniaxial or triaxial measurements according to the application test code. Furthermore, such value is not always accompanied by the uncertainty of the corresponding measurement, as would be desirable.
The casuistry above presents a problem in the application of the estimation methodology, which is partially solved with the implementation of standard UNE-CEN/TR 15350 IN: 2013 for hand-arm vibration (HAV). However, it is necessary to analyze other related standards, as well as various specialized studies, to improve the degree of methodological understanding.
Thus, such analysis has been developed in the current study by proposing a methodological improvement in relation to the declared value determination of the HAV by the manufacturer. This adds value to the risk assessment process by estimation.
