The learning of structural analysis in engineering university degrees involves an important teaching load, which sometimes induces difficulties to the students to follow up the lessons. On this context, the Metallic Profiles Analysis tool (APERMET) according spanish structural code (CTE) has been developed with the main objective to help in teaching as a complement to understand the matter. The tool is characterized by a simple and easy use, thought to guide the student gradually to perform all required verifications for solving the analysis of linear elements on the metallic structures. In addition, the increasing tendency to the “self-study” in the university teaching together with the high demand on distance learning had influenced the design to develop an evolving interface able to show progressively all parameters required for the calculations. Thus, users are able to verify quickly if their manually calculation is right, and/or identify the wrong point immediately, allowing to correct the problem by themselves. As interesting result, it is noted that the use of this tool is more widespread among the student with difficulties to attend classroom lessons and/or tutoring times, finding on APERMET tool a perfect complement to reinforce their learning
