RELACIÓN ENTRE LA TIPOLOGÍA DEL ALOJAMIENTO GANADERO Y LA PRODUCCIÓN VITALICIA EN EL GANADO BOVINO DE LECHE EN LA PROVINCIA DE A CORUÑA

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze and determine the features that relate dairy farms with higher productive life and the influence of barn type to obtain higher productive life. A sample of thirty-one dairy farms is selected and studied among the hundred best dairy farms for productive life in the province of A Coruña in 2.010. Analyzed parameters are related with farm location, workforce, dairy herd size, genetics, milk yield, barn design, milking, feeding and heifers. Group heterogeneity does not allow to relate a barn type with higher productive life. It is created an index called “theoretical productive life”. Applying it to the analyzed sample is discovered the existence of three different groups. The fist group shows a lower production than expected, the second group with values close to expectations and the third one group with higher production than expected.
