This paper addresses the potential of the Renewable Energy Resources (RES) for electricity generation purposes, mainly focused on processes with high heat/cooling needs in industrial parks of the Region of Murcia (Spain). With this aim, different solutions are studied focusing on the use of biomass and photovoltaic solutions within the industrial sector. These approaches are in line with a European Project currently in force, Enering Life+, where a large percentage of the energy demanded by the industrial process is provided by biomass and solar solutions.
In this work, the potential available in the Region of Murcia is evaluated in terms of biomass and solar, in order to assess the feasibility of implementing sustainable solutions in industrial parks and their impact on CO2 emissions in the Region of Murcia (Spain). This implementation is mainly focused on industrial processes requiring significant heat/cooling necessities, through the integration of processes based on absorption systems. Consequently, renewables are introduced in the generation mix by considering the end-use requirements.
