    Abstract
Public Lighting accounts for 2.3% of global electricity consumption and up to 80% of the municipal electricity consumed currently numerous studies and analysis aimed at improving efficiency and energy saving lighting systems. It demonstrates the interest in the field of urban lighting, LED technology awakening. With potential savings of over 50%, compared with the traditional discharge lamps (MH, HPS, etc.) and excellent lighting performance. One of the great advantages of LEDs, in addition to its efficiency and service life, is the directionality. Despite the massive discharge lamp replacement LED it is generating previously unknown problems associated with the peak currents in the cold start. These peaks of current, they can potentially cause ignition problems at startup and disconnection of circuits, dashboards and control. In addition, it worries harmonic distortion that could cause the sources of electronic nature, associated with this new technology, along with annoying glare or disturbing levels detected It is intended by SWOT analysis, present the advantages and disadvantages associated with this new technological form
