Previous literature has been polarized on the positive and negative effects of speed on organizational outcomes, primarily on financial performance. However, studies on the influence of speed on social outcomes such as firm’s environmental performance are very scarce. In this paper we address this research gap and propose that the relationship between organizational speed and firm’s environmental performance is curvilinear. Our findings confirm our hypotheses and suggest that organizational speed can potentially improve firm’ environmental performance and also deteriorate it depending on the specific level of speed.
