The importance of SMEs in economic and social development in both developed and developing countries, makes their study one of the priority actions of governments for the design and implementation of public policies that foster economic growth, technological development and innovation. This study analyzes the state that holds the manufacturing industry in the state of Jalisco, in order to establish improvement actions that increase their competitiveness. The research instrument used is based on an array of questionnaires structured in six functional areas: management, operations, supply and control, human resources and technology. Each segment or area is composed of sub-areas, which are considered key aspects to the development of the companies. Finally, the results are presented, derived from the analysis applied to the identified areas, concluding with some recommendations.
