In the early stages of the process of new product development appears the need of stablishing the communication processes of creative proposals between the agents implied in the process. It is essential to optimize that communication process to reduce the time of conceptual developing of initial proposals, as well as reaching an agreement about the proposal that fits better the initial design specifications.
The communication processes are generally based on visual language in order to optimize them. Visual language is traditionally focused on the use of realistic illustrations, developed by means of manual drawing techniques. There has been an evolution on the digital tools in the last years, so they attempt to emulate both the manual graphic techniques and the natural body-language of the lines make with the traditional drawing tools. Digital Sketching provides the design teams with new edition possibilities and a more up-to-date graphic language. In the same way, 3D modelling tools have appeared which allow an easy and agile modelling adequate for the conceptual design.
Following this idea, the present work shows a comparative study on different hardware tools and software for the elaboration of conceptual design proposals through different digital graphic languages.
