    Abstract
In this work the effects of the structure are analyzed on the mechanical behavior to rigid polyurethane foam compression (PU), used like thermal or absorbent insulators of energy. The structural parameters were determined from sections obtained by raise-fractures and images SEM, by means of techniques of image analysis. The structures are of closed pore, formed by cells dodecahedron type. The mechanical behavior is valued by the instantaneous resistance to compression, that presents/displays a dependency with the relative density of potential type with exponent m=1.5, and by the slope of the curved tension-deformation in the plateau, that reaches values between 0.14 and 0.34 MPa, affecting to the characteristics like absorbent. By means of diagrams of absorption of energy the effect of the homogeneity was quantified.
