During the last years the study of the industrial heritage has improved its position as a typology of interest, both nationally and internationally. The implementation of the National Plan of Industrial Heritage, the incorporation of many allusions to this typology into legislation about cultural heritage of the different autonomous communities, and the emergence of organizations focused on these kind of assets, are some of the signs of improvement that it is possible to indetify.
The heterogeneity of the assets included in this typology and their risk situation, not only in reference to their demise, but also due to the need to adapt these assets to new uses, make necessary to study the problem from a methodological approach that allows to consider many different aspects simultaneously.
This work exposes the main principles of the methodology developed for the identification and classification of the assets of the industrial heritage in Spain. The proposed methodology is applied to the assets located in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia. Then, the principal analysis allowed by the methodology are exposed and the results are shown.
