The shipbuilding of large fishing vessels industry has been traditionally characterized as reluctant to introduce major changes to its projects. The present research proposes an approach concerning a cost and term analysis, in order to facilitate the decisions-taking when significant changes need to be introduced in the tuna freezer vessels new construction projects. Thus, a series of tools and diagrams to examine the final impact of each one of the improvements proposed are presented, showing the relationship among the needed resources for their implementation and their results in cost and term.
Regarding that these projects are long-term, being usually carried out in parallel with others, these analyses will contemplate, as the direct results associated with the project object of study, as its transversal impact with other organizational projects.
The analyses proposed are oriented both to the Project managers and to the final client, attending therefore to improve a Program management and its marketing strategy with current and potential clients, seeking for a superior competitiveness in a completely globalized sector.
