The potential of nanotechnology to provide new solutions and opportunities in many different sectors, is a topic of growing concern. The construction industry is not unrelated to this progress, in fact, multiple nanoproducts are already employed for building applications, such as self-cleaning coatings, high efficiency insulation materials or decontaminating concrete. However, there are currently knowledge gaps regarding the toxicological properties of nanomaterials, in fact nanoproducts could be harmful to health and the environment. Thus the contradiction between the economic-technological benefits and potencial risks is evident. This paper aims at providing a recommendations to achieve a rapid and safety implementation of nanoproducts in construction industry in a strategic manner. To achieve this target, the authors have been explore the development and use of nanoproducts in construction industry analysing, adopting analysis tools stemming from the SWOT (Strengths,Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats)–PEST (Political, Economic, Social and Technological) model.
