The use of image analysis techniques in the clinic diagnosis of corneal diseases by using non-invasive procedures has meant a revolution in the ophthalmologic field. Confocal Microscopy is a technique that provides in vivo images, and at microscopic level, of the corneal histology for a posterior clinic evaluation. The present communication analyses the influence of the Gabor filters in the processing of the histologic images of the cornea by the implementation of an algorithm developed with the Matlab software tool. The obtained results demonstrate the influence of the texture of the images in the selection of the parameters for the Gabor filters, with the aim of obtaining an optimal image that facilitates the clinic diagnosis to the ophthalmologist.
