ESTUDIO PRELIMINAR SOBRE EL PROYECTO DE RIEGO LOCALIZADO PARA LA COMUNIDAD GENERAL DE REGANTES Y USUARIOS DE CALLOSA D’EN SARRIÀ

Abstract

The “Comunidad General de Regantes y Usuarios de Callosa d’En Sarrià (CGRIU) supplies an area of about 1,850 hectares irrigation grouped in different communities and irrigation entities. A community that also includes the City of said municipality in the province of Alicante (Spain), sharing resources and water infrastructure. The main crop is the medlar although there are also citrus and avocado recent implementation. Currently, about 1,200 hectares are in spate irrigation and the rest in drip irrigation. Existing facilities are quite obsolete leading to a malfunction in a massive loss and breakage. Moreover, one of the guarantees of drinking water in the region of "La Marina Baja" constitute some wells of that community, so that the solution of the problem of irrigation has to be seen in the broader context of management and release of water resources. The purpose of this paper is to summarize broadly and in a first approximation, works and facilities necessary for the implementation of drip irrigation in CGRIU as well as rationalization of resource use.
