To calculate the energy theoretically produced by the proposed installation, this study utilises the PVGIS, which creates a compilation base map of the solar energy resources and an estimation of the electrical energy to be generated by the photovoltaic systems. The locations studied were: Alfaro (La Rioja), Sariñena (Aragón), Seville (Andalucía), and Tenerife (Canary Islands). Four different types of solar trackers were analysed at each location: Fixed mount, vertical axis, tilted axis, and dual axis. Initially, average statistical, annual, and cumulative productions were evaluated according to location and type of tracker, considering various economic and legal strategies with ample operating working capital. Afterwards, the cumulative production of all the locations and the four types of trackers was assessed, considering various alternatives for the annual degradation of photovoltaic modules and the average annual performance of the rest of the components and installations. And finally, an economic viability study was conducted of the base scenario for the different locations and types of trackers, evaluating amortisation periods according to selling prices, net present value (NPV), and profits over a 20 year time span.
