Energy efficiency is one of the most profitable ways to enhance security of energy supply, to ensure business competitiveness, and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other airborne pollutants. Saving measures and energy efficiency that could be implemented in a facility, with a high savings percentage, would be achieved in many cases with simple actions and with little or no investment performances. The cornerstone of energy efficiency is to instill habits users of energy efficient behavior. This paper exposes the real case of the artificial lighting in a sports hall, designed to accommodate sporting events shown on television, where the lighting requirements are very high and involve high electricity consumption. A comparative analysis is performed, evaluating the annual energy cost and environmental impact, including the operation of the facility with the energy bad habits that were produced by different users, compared to energy-savings habits based on patterns of behavior and the installation of some basic control elements, showing the high percentage of savings achieved with simple actions.
